Meet the doctor
Qais F. Musmar, DDS
"We don't just treat teeth. We treat people. That's why I make sure to listen to my patients, not just talk to them. I have to understand their perspective before I can help them reach their goals!"
-Qais F. Musmar, DDS
Dr. Musmar was inspired to become a dentist by watching his mother care for her patients — she was a practicing dentist for 39 years. As a child, he was a regular face at the office and enjoyed the atmosphere of attentiveness and professionalism he found there.
Dr. Musmar met his wife, Dr. Rainy Suon, in dental school. Like Dr. Musmar, she enjoys practicing dentistry in Northern Virginia. Their personal lives are as busy and fulfilling as their professional ones. They are proud parents of four kids: Haitham, Kareem, Laith, and Hani.
Experience
Dr. Musmar graduated summa cum laude from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry as the only student in the school's history to graduate with a 4.0 GPA. He then took the additional step of completing a one-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry in San Antonio. There, he learned the latest advancements in techniques and materials for cosmetics, reconstructive treatment, endodontics, and periodontal treatment. He also achieved certification in pain management, conscious sedation, and advanced cardiac life support.
Continuing education remains a regular part of his professional life. For example, he has now earned certification to treat patients with Invisalign aligners as an alternative to traditional braces. He also enjoys working on veneers.
"I enjoy cosmetic work and full-mouth reconstruction, and I like helping patients keep a positive outlook. If they've been caring for their teeth well, I compliment them. If they're not, I'll find out why without lecturing them. If teeth are out of alignment, we can make them perfectly straight. The color, shape, and arrangement in the mouth looks so natural... and the gratification these patients get is wonderful!"
